Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C with AED is designed for workplace and community learners who need more in-depth first aid training than Basic First Aid. The course builds practical judgment, teamwork, and response skills for situations involving cardiac emergencies, breathing emergencies, injuries, and sudden medical events.

Course Description

The Intermediate First Aid, CPR & AED course will provide additional training in various emergency scenarious. Participants will develop the confidence and competence to manage a wide range of medical and trauma emergencies. Emphasis will be placed on teamwork, critical thinking, and hands-on practice for both individual and group rescuer scenarios.

A full 16.5-hour (including breaks and evaluation) classroom session led by a certified instructor including breaks and evaluation. This format includes theory, hands-on practice, direct interaction, and immediate feedback.
Blended learning

Blended learning

Learners complete about 8 hours of online theory through structured modules, readings, quizzes, and activities, followed by about 8.5 hours of in-person practical training and assessment. Online proctoring is used to verify identity and participation.

Learners complete about 8 hours of facilitated live online theory through a secure platform, followed by about 8.5 hours of in-person practical training and assessment. This format supports discussion, instructor feedback, and scheduled participation.

    • Signs, risks, and first aid responses for asthma, anaphylaxis, cardiac emergencies, stroke, diabetic emergencies, seizures, and opioid overdose.

    • Wound care, bleeding control, burn care, and when advanced care is required.

  • Skill Objectives

    • Perform a full scene assessment, use PPE, and complete an ABC check.

    • Perform high-quality CPR and use an AED safely for adults, children, and infants.

    • Manage choking for adults, children, and infants using back blows and thrusts as appropriate.

    • Provide first aid for medical emergencies, including assisting with inhalers, epinephrine auto-injectors, prescribed heart medications, and naloxone.

    • Provide care for soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal injuries, head and neck injuries, and suspected spinal injuries.

    • Assist a person in a wheelchair safely by communicating clearly and providing appropriate first aid.

    • Monitor a casualty’s condition, transfer care to EMS, and continue care until help arrives.

Course Certification
